The Port of Antwerp does not take its role as a partner of the Book Fair lightly. At its booth, it presents a public version of the Digital Twin, which is already being used internally. It is a digital ‘twin brother’ of the port, which uses 3D graphics and live images to visually represent what is happening in the port in real-time. “We are setting up a kind of control tower at our booth, where visitors can visualize various data from the port via touchscreens,” says Wim Wouters, digital innovation expert of the Port Authority. Visitors can thus track the live route of a ship in the port, monitor the yield of a wind turbine in real-time, or see how the port area is divided according to different categories of activity. It is the public version of an application we are already using internally.”
